What will the participant be doing?   EMBARK exists to engage, equip, and empower young leaders (ages 18-29) to participate in God’s work of redeeming young people around the world.

  • EMBARK young leaders will start in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for a three-month intensive training in community. This training will include time in individual and community spiritual formation, seminars led by experienced youth ministry leaders, Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) certification, team-building, relational evangelism training, and practical ministry experience that can be applied to your field of service.
  • EMBARK young leaders will be sent in small teams to one of three locations around Asia Pacific. You will continue training with investment in local culture and language acquisition. The EMBARK team will be given specific ministry goals to accomplish alongside the national YFC leadership during the six-month placement.
  • EMBARK young leaders will return to Chiang Mai for four weeks of processing your experience and making plans for next steps after EMBARK to apply what you learned about Jesus and His Kingdom to your education and vocation.

What will the participant be doing?   Each year since 2003, a group of dedicated and enthusiastic individuals from Australia, New Zealand and America go to Samoa to be involved in medical clinics. These trips have been organized by Youth for Christ Samoa and Youth for Christ Asia Pacific. The medical clinics focus on diagnosis and treatment of common health problems in Samoa. These include diabetes, high blood pressure, skin disorders, rheumatic heart disease, TB, infections, dietary, and common wellness issues. The team dispenses medications from a portable pharmacy, purchased from donated funds. Eye checks and screening is performed, and glasses are dispensed from a stock of purchased and donated glasses. Taking clinics to the villages (rather than requiring them to travel to the hospital) allows health services to be provided in their own environment to those without ready access to these at other times. All the villagers who come along benefit from the service. People from surrounding villages come along as well. We see approximately 200 patients per day. Youth for Christ in Samoa coordinates individual counseling and evangelism, in support of their ongoing school, youth and village evangelism.
