About YFC Nepal

In early 1994, a YFC Board of Trustees was established in Nepal. This Board searched for a National Director, and in October, 1994 the Board selected Mr. Niko Thapa to be the Director, and he is still our National Director of Nepal.

Nepal has five regions and 75 districts. YFC Nepal currently has full-time staff in approximately 12 of the districts with a goal of having a staff member in each district throughout the country.

Thousands of young people have found Christ through the ministry of YFC since 1994. More than 100 people on seven medical mission teams have treated more than 15,000 patients during those years. In 1999, the largest youth conference in Nepal’s history was held in Kathmandu attracting more than 1,000 youth.

In March, 2001 a team went to Western Nepal near the Chitwan National (Tiger) Park to hold medical clinics. Each doctor (and a dentist) had a station where they checked hundreds of people who came from miles around. Many had never seen a doctor or a “white” person before.

The team had the opportunity to share Christ with the patients, conduct church services and a youth rally, and distribute Gospel tracts. They ministered alongside the Nepal YFC Staff, who served as translators and organizers. Every year Nepal YFC makes a giant leap forward as a result of the team’s ministry.
